Business Development Manager

We have a Business Development Manager position available immediately for someone who is knowledgeable, driven to succeed, and understands the construction industry to help grow our business. You will be responsible for finding new commercial and industrial opportunities for Carlson by connecting with new and existing contacts. We are proud to have a collaborative team here and we are looking for an individual who leads by example and has a proven track record.

Specifically, we are looking for a leader with the right attitude and background who can:

  • Build and foster relationships with stakeholders in the construction sector, including new and existing clients, architects, developers, and other key decision makers
  • Consistently expand our customer base by networking and seeking out new business opportunities
  • Find and pursue prospective leads and opportunities
  • Consistently secure profitable work by effectively following up on leads and negotiating with clients
  • Prepare exceptional proposals and presentations for business development opportunities
  • Create business development reports in a timely and accurate manner
  • Understand, follow, and research current market trends to direct the business development strategy
  • Work with Carlson Construction’s Leadership Team to understand, evaluate and elevate the company’s future growth opportunities
  • Act as a key ambassador for Carlson Construction outside of the company by attending events, networking groups and other opportunities
  • Lead our marketing and branding efforts to ensure Carlson’s brand is recognizable, relevant and creates opportunities

The ideal candidate possesses:

  • Previous business development success with same or similar client base
  • Excellent working knowledge of a general contractor’s sales cycle
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and presentational skills
  • Excellent prospecting, networking, and closing capabilities
  • A professional demeanor coupled with excellent negotiation and project costing skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem solving capabilities
  • Self-motivation, ability to plan ahead, and can balance multiple deadlines
