We have an amazing opportunity for a knowledgeable Building Construction Estimator in our Calgary office!  You will be an integral member of our Estimating Team for projects across Alberta. You will work closely with our Project Development Team, Pre-construction and Operations departments by supporting their needs related to Estimating.  We are proud to have an especially collaborative team and we are looking for a very competent estimating individual who is experienced, knowledgeable, who leads by example and who has a proven track record. As well, you will help achieve the company’s objectives by estimating an exciting variety of building projects.

Specifically, the Estimator will:

• Follow department standard estimating procedures and metrics.
• Quickly and effectively problem-solve and make decisions under tight timelines.
• Coordinate and take full responsibility for your own estimating assignments.
• Benefit from team mentoring, coaching and assisting the estimating team.
• Utilize team member support and their review of all completed take-offs, estimates and cost analysis prior to submission.
• Develop and maintain new relationships with Industry Partners that may lead to allegiance with the Carlson brand and team members.
• Get involved in the day-to-day processes, while learning from and helping with short-term project strategies and long-term departmental strategies.
• Maintain bid estimates and related trade quotes, in neat and orderly manner, for turnover to Operations.

Requirements:

• Post-secondary diploma in Construction Engineering Technology or Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent education.
• 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in Estimating for a General Contractor.
• Be familiar with policies and regulations related to the ICI building construction industry in Alberta.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills and attention to detail are a
• Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills are required.
• Proficient with Microsoft software including Excel, Word and Project.
