Proposal Writer – Edmonton or Calgary Location

We are hiring an experienced Proposal Writer to support our Business Development Department.  You will work closely with Business Development, Pre-Construction and Estimating under tight deadlines to write, coordinate, and finalize content for our proposals.  You will manage the proposal database to ensure we stay current.  Additionally, you will assist with other marketing tasks such as creating presentations, generating company templates, publishing the quarterly newsletter, updating business development materials, and coordinating third party providers.  Since our inception in 1927, we have been providing our industry a great construction experience and we are looking for an individual who will compliment this strategy.

Specifically, we’re looking for a leader with the right attitude and background who can:

  • Review request for proposals (RFPs) and generate exceptional and client-specific responses
  • Prepare presentation material for project pursuit interviews
  • Work collaboratively with other team members to ensure deadlines and expectations are met
  • Support all of Carlson’s business development and marketing efforts
  • Ensure Carlson’s branding standards are adhered to
  • Advise the Leadership Team of opportunities to strengthen current processes and branded materials

The ideal candidate possesses:

  • Superior written and oral communication capabilities
  • Self-motivation, ability to plan ahead, and aptitude to balance multiple deadlines
  • The ability to communicate directly, as well as tactfully and diplomatically
  • Excellent attention to detail and presentation skills
  • Experience in the construction industry
  • Experience with technical writing/editing is an asset
  • Proven track record of responding to RFPs
  • Advanced computer skills (MS Office: PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Experience working with Adobe InDesign or similar program
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, or related field
