ATB Plaza

The ATB Plaza is an important outdoor space in downtown Edmonton, with high foot traffic due to the adjacent office towers, the presence of a food court, and the direct access to the Central LRT station. Many retail amenities add to the appeal of this area. One of the intents of the Plaza restoration was to increase public usage of the area. This busy area was managed successfully by Carlson with safety and continued access being prominent objectives.

The ATB Plaza Restoration consisted of three individual phases — ATB North Plaza, ATB South Plaza, and Jasper Plaza — all of which were competitively tendered and completed by Carlson Construction. Each of the phases was individually designed with attractive retaining walls, exposed concrete surfaces and landscaping. The work consisted of removing the existing hard surfaces (concrete and pavers), and removal and repair of the existing insulation and waterproof membrane on the parking deck. Much of the concrete restoration work was performed by Carlson Construction’s own field staff, from the preparation to the placement of new concrete repair materials.
