Taico Weldshop, Industrial Shop and Office

This 21,000 sq ft welding shop and two-story office is located in the Leduc Industrial Park. Two different building systems were blended to create the new structure: the shop is a pre-engineered building (Behlen Industries) while the office is conventional steel. Both of these systems were erected simultaneously in one week. The conventional steel office features an open and functional floor plan, high end finishes throughout, and a spacious roof top patio for employee use. The shop’s steel frame is specially designed to support three overhead cranes and so avoids the unnecessary cost for a secondary steel support structure. This project was designed with strength and durability in mind, ensuring that the building is capable of handling years of use as an active welding facility. Carlson has returned to Taico for additional projects involving loading docks and ramps, an extension of the mechanical, electrical and sprinkler systems, and first floor tenant improvements.
