Jasper Activity Centre

About the Project

The Jasper Activity Centre dates back to 1948, when Parks Canada built a 50-metre outdoor swimming pool. It has since expanded to include squash and tennis courts, a curling rink and lounge, multi-purpose spaces, the arena, a fitness centre and more.

The project included the addition of new gender-inclusive changerooms in the aquatic centre, renovated and upgraded curling lounge, the addition of a new elevator to improve physical accessibility, renovated and expanded the existing arena dressing rooms, the addition of three new arena dressing rooms, a revamp of the lobby areas, upgraded mechanical and electrical systems throughout the entire facility, and enhancing community spaces including new front and rear entry doors and the plaza concrete area.

Carlson completed the project while the facility remained open to the public, which required enhanced safety measures, dust protection, minimized noise, and working outside of the regular operating hours. The project was reopened in phases, beginning with the arena, then the arena changerooms, quickly followed by the aquatic center within the month.

The July 2024 wildfires brought the project to a temporary halt, however, the project remained on-time and on-budget, which the Municipality of Jasper credited to its relationship with Carlson.
