About the Project

A Member-Focused New Concept for Alberta Motor Association

Alberta Motor Association (AMA) serves more than 980,000 Albertans with services including roadside assistance, insurance, travel, and registry support. Carlson Construction has partnered with AMA for over 30 years on projects ranging from tenant improvements to new builds across Alberta.

This new location in Westbrook Mall represents a fresh concept for AMA, blending convenience, comfort, and functionality to enhance accessibility for members. The centre includes self-service kiosks, private advisor rooms, a retail area, and a lounge-style waiting zone. Thoughtful interior details, like warm, durable flooring, custom millwork, and tailored feature lighting, create a welcoming environment.

The new space replaces AMA’s Calgary Main branch, formerly housed in a standalone building in southwest Calgary. While Westbrook Mall offered a strong retail presence and greater visibility for members, it also presented construction challenges.

The resulting build exceeded expectations. AMA reported that the new location had been full every day in the weeks and months following its opening, surprising even them with how much traffic the concept and location generated.
