Campio Brewing Co. is a brewpub located in the heart of the downtown Ice District, reflecting both Edmonton’s blue-collar roots and its artistic flair. It has become known for its bold craft beers and authentic Detroit-style deep dish pizza.
The Campio brewpub facility is located within a turn-of-the-century brick warehouse that previously housed a Character’s Restaurant, which operated for over 20 years. The project sought to convert the existing restaurant into a brewpub with an on-location brewery to facilitate every step of beer production, from raw grains to fermentation, bottling, storage and, of course, serving.
Construction took place across both the main and lower floors, renovating the main floor to include a beer barrel (BBL) brewhouse and froth room, and a kitchen, dining room and lounge. On the lower level, the project included the addition of more dining space, the main brewery space, walk-in coolers for food storage, and a cellar with five 10 BBL brite tanks, a sour cellar for wooden cask storage, a milling room, a grist case and a fermenter.
The technical nature of building a multi-floor brewery, paired with working within a 100+ year-old warehouse space, presented unique challenges we were proud to build solutions for.
The brewpub has become a favourite spot for our team to enjoy pizza before any event at Rogers Place.
