NAIT’s Building T is an eight-story concrete building with classrooms and office space originally built in 1964. This reconstruction project was extensive, involving a complete renovation of 100,000 square feet over four floors, as well as the penthouse, which was converted into the Board of Governors’ Area.
Renovations included installation of Teknion wall partition systems, installation of a new feature staircase between Floors 7 and 8, replacement of exterior windows, complete renovation to all elevator lobbies and washrooms, replacement of all exterior and interior building signage, major upgrades to the mechanical and HVAC systems, complete renewal of the electrical service and distribution, and the installation of security and card access systems. Carlson also installed a new fire alarm and sprinkler system, and completely replaced all building signage, both interior and exterior. Miscellaneous renovations were undertaken on the remaining floors.
