Expanding and Enhancing the Derrick Club
The Derrick Golf and Winter Club is a private, member-owned facility offering a championship golf course, extensive athletic amenities, and year-round programming.
Phase One of Carlson’s work included upgrades to athletic facilities and construction of a new five-court badminton centre. Additional improvements involved renovating the multipurpose gymnasium, expanding the Spike Bar and Sun Café, updating interior finishes, building a new pro shop, and adding a rear entrance to the club. Exterior work included the redevelopment of site services, paving, and the addition of a roundabout with a water feature and stone signage.
(Size: 20,000 sq. ft.)
Phase Two added a 27,500 sq. ft. pre-engineered indoor tennis facility with four courts and a 5,000 sq. ft. steel-structured link to the existing building. The new facility includes an elevated viewing lounge, washrooms, and a second-floor multipurpose room with a wet bar. To accommodate the build, the existing parking lot and outdoor courts were removed and replaced with two new parking areas offering 100 stalls.
(Size: 32,500 sq. ft.)
As a member-owned facility, many users were also stakeholders, often engaging directly with the on-site Carlson team throughout construction. Construction was carried out during regular hours while the facility remained open, requiring careful planning, clear communication, and a strong commitment to safety and minimal disruption.
